Early Settler of Elko Dead
ELKO, July 20--(Special)--Lou Benson, one of the old pioneers of this county died at his home in Ruby Valley last night. He was seventy-six years of age and came to this country while still a boy, from his birthplace in Sweden. Early in his youth he was a teamster and drove large teams through Ruby valley when it was the main road between the camp of Hamilton and Eureka. Later he bought a small ranch and soon acquired the Cave Creek ranch, one of the best in the valley.
Death was due to cancer from which disease he had suffered for a long time. He is survived by his wife who accompanied the body to this city where the funeral will be held tomorrow.
Louis Benson is Evelyn Bressman's first husband. She is the d/o Jacob and Mary Ellen Bressman.
